A career opportunity of a lifetime

Who are we?

We are a new King team, located in Stockholm, Sweden, and we're working on an exciting new project. The team is adapting one of the most iconic game franchises of all-time: Call of Duty®, to become a mobile experience. This is a rare and exciting opportunity. Our challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre. Our approach and ambition is to be fresh, social, and highly accessible, while providing a very authentic game experience. The team will prototype extensively, have the freedom to think outside the box, and be encouraged to stretch their expertise in ways to create surprising results.

King is part of Activision Blizzard, and we're collaborating on this project.

Our Way of Working

We’re conscious of the fact that ways of working evolve as projects evolve, and right now we’re in discovery mode. We iterate rapidly, we play daily builds, we discuss and ask questions—together we try to determine at the start of every day: “what's the most important thing right now?” and; “what do we need to know next?”

We’re a lean pack of developers, designers, and artists, with a shared goal and shared understanding of what we're striving to build: a transformative and awesome Call of Duty experience on mobile that fans will want to play for years.

Our Creative Philosophy

Our key is a team that is hungry for excellence. We will work fast and gain momentum off our successes. All ideas will have their moment to shine and ultimately play an important role in the final composition of the game. Development will be validated through positive feedback, open discussions, and testing. From a team perspective, collective thinking will empower us as a group and open new doors, but individuals will be responsible for elevating ideas to their potential. It’s going to be a wild and demanding ride. The result will be worth every challenge along the way.

Working at King in Stockholm

King in Stockholm is our first studio and has been making games since 2003. With the release of Candy Crush Saga in 2012, one of the world’s most played games on both Facebook and mobile.

Our close connection with the player community gives us instant feedback and enables us to deliver truly magical moments. We value your free time and your need to refuel, relax and find inspiration – by playing games with your colleagues, being at home with your family or going to the gym or out for a run. That's how we stay creative. That’s why we call ourselves developers of magic and knights of creativity!

Sweden: A cheat sheet for newbies

Spotify, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ingmar Bergman, Stig Larsson and, of course, the icons ABBA and IKEA are examples of the great impact Sweden made on the world.

On a geographical note, Sweden has dramatic seasons with short days and lots of snow in the winter. The days are long in the summer and the sun hardly rises during midwinter. The Swedish air is clean, there are tons of beautiful nature and the water is perfect for drinking and swimming.

One of the rewards of working in a country with strong social benefits is a safe and protective employment framework and labor laws that prioritise quality of life. Parents have a combined entitlement of 480 days of paid leave for every child below the age of eight. High quality, affordable child care is very important to Swedes. Publicly subsidised child care is available to all children between the ages 1–12. This includes both day care for pre-school children and out of school care for school-age children.

  • By law, every employee is entitled to at least five weeks of paid vacation annually.
  • Thanks to a taxpayer-funded health care system, Sweden offers inexpensive, heavily subsidized and high quality public healthcare for everyone who lives or works in Sweden
  • Social insurance covers sickness, disability, having children and retirement.
  • In Sweden, you can buy or rent housing. King will help you find a permanent home and assist you with short term accommodation.
